I was at church a couple of Sunday’s ago, and a guest singer, sang “A Simple Song” from Leonard Bernstein’s “Mass.” It was beautiful and simple and reminded me of a time as a young woman when I had the opportunity to meet Leonard Bernstein in what is now St. Petersburg, Russia. He was an amazing composer, and I was tongued tied at first (yes I know, me tongue tied? It can happen…) but he was so gracious and kind that it left a great impression upon me…as did his music. Well, that Sunday, the tears began to flow…I just couldn’t help it, it is so good to be reminded of simple beauty…in a time that seems so dark at times…and so I give you this simple song and hopefully it will evoke some beauty in you too.
